The Blum Center is recruiting a Graduate Student Assistant, and two undergraduate Marketing Student Assistants, to join our team. Please see below for a brief overview of both positions, and visit Handshake for the full descriptions and to submit your application.

1) UCSB Blum Center Graduate Student Assistant

The Blum Center is recruiting a Graduate Student Assistant to work alongside our Blum student team, and Associate Director, to advance thinking and engagement on poverty, inequality, and democracy both on and off campus. The main duties of the Graduate Student Assistant, in collaboration with other members of the Blum Student team and Associate Director, will focus on the following:
 
·      Lead the planning and implementation of UCSB Blum Center programming and events on campus, e.g. help select topics and speakers for events, facilitate discussions/events, organize necessary logistics, and assist with outreach, note-taking, and event set-up and take down;  
 
·      Assist with supporting and promoting the undergraduate Minor in Poverty, Inequality and Social Justice, with which the Blum Center is affiliated, e.g. holding information and orientation sessions; growing and evaluating the minor’s internship program; as well as supporting the design and implementation of targeted strategies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across key aspects of the minor;
 
·      Lead the planning and implementation of a signature project focused on poverty and inequality during the Center’s annual Poverty Action Days in Spring 2022;
 
·      Support the implementation and evaluation of the Center’s campus outreach strategy to strengthen relationships and partnerships with relevant clubs and initiatives at UCSB and across the UC system;
 
·      Assist with the Center’s broader marketing and outreach efforts both on and off campus where needed, e.g. design posts for virtual information campaigns focused on key themes related to poverty, inequality, democracy, and social justice; and
 
·      Assist with other administrative work where needed.
 
Requirements
•       A registered UCSB graduate student in good academic standing; and
•       Able to work 10 hrs/wk in Winter and Spring 2022 (with possible extension into Summer 2022, and the following academic year, pending funding)

2) UCSB Blum Center Undergraduate Marketing Student Assistant

The Blum Center is recruiting two undergraduate Marketing Student Assistants to work alongside our Blum student team, and Associate Director, to advance thinking and engagement on poverty, inequality, and democracy both on and off campus.
 
The main duties of the Marketing Student Assistants will focus on the following:
•       Lead the development and implementation of the Blum Center's marketing and outreach plan for Winter and Spring 2022, in consultation with the Associate Director;
•       Lead the content creation and design of Blum Center weekly social media (Instagram and Facebook) and regular website posts and updates;
•       Lead the planning, writing, and sending of the Blum Center monthly e-newsletter; and
•       Lead the creation and design of Blum Center online and print promotional materials, e.g. for Blum Center initiatives, for the Center itself, etc.
 
While the above duties will be the primary focus of this position, the Marketing Student Assistants will also assist with the following Blum Center programming:
•       Help plan, organize, and facilitate 1-2 public events related to Center initiatives, e.g. Pop Up Discussions on themes related to the Center’s mission, Public Forum(s) focused on regional inequity; the Center’s annual Poverty Action Days in Spring 2022 etc; and
•       Assist with other administrative work where needed.
 
Requirements
•       A registered UCSB undergraduate student in good academic standing
•       Able to work 8-10 hrs/wk in Winter and Spring 2022 (with possible extension into Summer 2022, and the following academic year, pending funding)
