Blum Center Undergraduate Student Assistant

The Blum Center is recruiting an undergraduate Student Assistant to work alongside our Blum student team, and Assistant Director, to advance thinking and engagement on poverty, inequality, and democracy both on and off campus.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, the main duties of the Student Assistant will focus on the following in collaboration with the BC student leader team and also in consultation with the Blum Center Director:

  • facilitate the development and implementation of the Blum Center's marketing and outreach plan for Fall 2023, Winter and Spring 2024;
  • collaborate and develop content creation and design of Blum Center weekly social media (Instagram and Facebook) and regular website posts and updates;
  • collaborate and develop the planning, writing, and sending of the Blum Center's e-newsletter; and
  • collaborate and develop the creation and design of Blum Center online and print promotional materials, e.g. for Blum Center initiatives, for the Center itself, etc.
While the above duties will be the primary focus of this position, the Student Assistant will also assist with the following Blum Center programming:
  • help plan, organize, and facilitate 1-2 public events related to Center initiatives, e.g. Pop Up Discussions on themes related to the Center’s mission, Public Forum(s) focused on regional inequity; and
  • assist with other administrative work where needed.
  • contribute to special reports and original research projects. 

Requirements: A registered UCSB undergraduate student in good academic standing who is able to work 10 hrs/wk during the Fall 2023, and Winter and Spring 2024 Quarters.

Labor Center Undergraduate Student Assistant

UCSB's Labor Center is recruiting an undergraduate Student Assistant to advance thinking and engagement on labor-centered issues both on and off campus.
 
With supervision and support, the main duties of the Student Assistant will focus on the following in collaboration with the BC student leader team and in consultation with the Labor Center Director:

  • facilitate the development and implementation of the Labor Center's marketing and outreach plan for Fall 2023, Winter and Spring 2024;
  • collaborate and develop content creation and design of Labor Center weekly social media (Instagram and Facebook) and regular website posts and updates;
