In the aftermath of Munger Hall’s cancellation, and amidst soaring housing costs, it is essential that we identify how we got here, and how our campus community can move forward in a manner that prioritizes undergraduate and graduate student housing.
Our People’s Guide to UCSB’s Housing Crisis, which can be viewed as a website or as a PDF, argues that private interests have had an outsized influence in determining the development of public university housing. This Guide also introduces the role of private finance and housing investment within the UC-system, alternative housing options, and existing campus housing resources, among other critical topics, as part of a broader discussion to address our campus community’s urgent need for housing. We encourage all to access this Guide and share widely.
This is event is open to the campus. Please RSVP here.
