Georgetown University Economics Professor Martin Ravaillon, worked at the World Bank for 25 years and is the recent author of The Economics of Poverty: History, Measurement and Policy. He will give a lecture addressing the questions: What is poverty? Why is there poverty? Can we eradicate it? Recent attempts to reduce poverty, and the pitfalls and advantages of each approach, will also be discussed.
