“Ghana’s Electric Dreams” presents a history of the roots and wide-ranging impact of the famed hydroelectric Akosombo Dam, the country’s most ambitious development project. Clark and Miescher will respond to comments from UC San Diego Communication Department Professor Boatema Boateng. The panel discussion will be moderated by UCSB Film and Media Studies Department Professor. This event is co-sponsored by the departments of History, Film and Media Studies, and the interdisciplinary Research Focus Group in African Studies. Part of the Blum Center for Global Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development’s Development Across Time and Place: New Scholarship, Critical Perspectives Series, bringing together scholars from a variety of disciplines to interrogate the history and legacies of development.
