How do the issues of poverty and inequality intersect with Feminist Studies, and what makes you passionate about these issues? 

Through the framework of intersectionality, in Feminist Studies, scholar-activists center how poverty and inequality shape and are shaped by privilege and oppression. Women, especially women of color, experience impoverishment at higher rates than men and often carry the gendered responsibility of caring for others, both inside the home and in the workplace. Feminist research makes these disparities visible and provides evidence for social justice organizations and policy-makers to work toward a more just society.
