Bio:
Brenda Vuong’s passion for people and the environment began with her bicultural upbringing along the Southern California Coast. As a master's student in Environmental Science and Management, she plans to study the intersection between sustainability and environmental justice. Before graduate school, Brenda was an undergraduate researcher at the UC Irvine EcoGov Lab. In this position, she was able to apply her multicultural knowledge to conduct interviews with community members in Santa Ana, investigate linguistic barriers, and record how community air monitoring efforts were used to advocate for the city’s environmental justice policies. At the Blum Center, Brenda hopes to use her experiences in community collaboration and environmental data injustice to help create accessible digital resources that align with California’s central coast communities.
